Incredible Wine Tastings At Cardinale and Lokoya in Napa With Alex and Paige!
November 23, 2024
Dolly had been looking especially pitiful all day yesterday while Jason and I enjoyed a cozy day inside, working on our blog and website. We had about 4 inches of rain yesterday, which is pretty exceptional given how early it is in the rainy season. I felt terrible for Dolly—as much as I enjoyed a day indoors—so we decided to head out on a walk with no real destination in mind. As we left the house, we walked through Alamo Square, which was gorgeous as always. Down Pierce, across Haight, we ended up in Duboce Park. “Let’s jump on the N and head to the Ferry Building!” And so we did!
Getting downtown and wandering around is a general reminder of how special our city is. Even though Market St. continues to be completely torn up from all the work the MTA has been doing, it’s still such a nice vibe. The street vendors were out with their art, and the farmer’s market was in full swing. Many folks were just out and about having a great time, which is always nice to see. The high clouds and the wet sidewalks created an awesome ambiance, so I made sure to capture a few pics (see the gallery above).
Note to self: that vegan soft serve at Gott’s is worth going back for.
After we ate, Janell met us, and we all took a hike up to Coit Tower. What a reminder of the awesome times I had as a boot camp instructor running large groups of folks up the Filbert stairs, stopping for pushups and situps along the way. Dolly was an amazing sport and made it up with no issues, and with energy to spare. Afterwards, we walked back down Montgomery through Jackson Square (I love that neighborhood), through Maritime Plaza public space, Embarcadero Center, and finally back to the Ferry Building for some wine.
Janell treated us to some amazing Pinot Noir and even better conversation. We are so blessed to have such an amazing friends like Janell here in the city. That’s what makes a place a home. There’s never a shortage of discussion and laughs with Janell! For those who are interested, here were the wines, both of which we loved:
After our wine-down, we strolled back down the Embarcadero to walk Janell home and catch the bus. We laughed and marvelled at how we thought we would just take a quick walk around the neighborhood and it ended up turning into an amazing, hours-long gallivant through our beloved San Francisco with our beautiful pup and dear friend. Remembering days like this will be special, and I am glad I have a place (and the motivation) to record these memories.
San Francisco you truly are a beautiful and amazing place! Thank you for everything!
